Extract from Shropshire's Legends and People

Edric did not die! He lives, still, imprisoned in the lead mines on the Stiperstones. It is said he waits with his wife, Lady Godda, and his men. It is also said he was condemmed to this fate because he allowed himself to be decieved by William the Conqueror. Legend has it they can only be seen when the country (or county) is threatened.
